Elote Farro Salad

How is it that summer is almost over?! I feel like summer always flies by, but this year has taken the cake for me – between lots of friend visits, quick jaunts north to wine country and south to LA, and an extra-hectic work schedule, I feel like I’ve barely blinked and September is almost upon us.

“Summer” in the Bay Area pretty much means nothing in terms of weather, but I absolutely still use the season to take advantage of the extra-special produce: corn, tomatoes, basil, peaches, berries, oh my! When I was thinking about just the right recipe to celebrate the quickly fading summer months, this elote farro salad struck me as just the thing.

Foodie Favorites – April 6, 2016

The most amazing fried chicken at Hopscotch in Oakland – my new favorite place, and just a few minutes’ walk from our new apartment! This could be bad…

Hey everyone! How’s your week going? As I mentioned in Sunday’s post, we are moving in a few weeks, so weekends for the next month or so are going to be filled with packing, moving, and unpacking! We are so, so excited for our new place though, so hopefully it will all be worth it. Naturally, I’m distracting myself from the 9 million things I have to do by looking at pictures of food – care to join me?? Here are this week’s Foodie Favorites!

This homemade chocolate chip cookie dough ice cream is giving me all the feels. I want a pint of this with one spoon, stat!

Creamy farro with white beans and kale is so right up my dinner alley. I want to try this creamy technique!

Roasted Cauliflower with Farro, Pumpkin Seeds, and Brown Butter

roasted cauliflower with farro, pumpkin seeds, and brown butter // my bacon-wrapped life

Foodie Favorites – November 19, 2015

Wedding registering (!!!!) requires healthy sustenance (and booze).

Hey everyone! Are you in the full-blown Thanksgiving spirit yet? Even though Thanksgiving totally crept up on me this year, I could not be more excited and am eagerly counting down the days until next week. My mom and I are making these bacon roasted sweet potatoes, my all-time favorite pretzel bread stuffing, my future mother-in-law’s broccoli casserole, and pumpkin pie – so we should certainly have our work cut out for us! Thanksgiving is one of my absolute favorite days of the year, and I definitely feel like I have a lot to be thankful for this year. Let’s dive into the holiday spirit with this week’s Foodie Favorites!

Another incredible stuffing – this fig, herb, and sausage stuffing looks to-die-for. I absolutely love the idea of adding figs – what a perfect naturally sweet touch!

These salted chocolate pecan pie bars are calling to me. I never end up eating pecan pie on Thanksgiving because I love pumpkin pie and often find pecan pie a bit too much after such a big meal. These cute little bars look like the perfect compromise – so I can have my pumpkin pie and eat my pecan pie bars, too!
