Foodie Favorites – August 3, 2014

foodie favorites - september 3, 2014 // my bacon-wrapped lifeEnjoying the late Sunday night scene at a classic Chicago steakhouse, Gibsons

Hey everyone! Hope you’re having a better Wednesday than I am. I’m writing this on a wireless keyboard we miraculously dug up because the “p” key on my keyboard has suddenly stopped working! I figured a post without “p”s would be pretty difficult, so I’m glad I was able to make this work. (I mean, I couldn’t even type in “Pinterest”.) Fingers crossed for me at the Apple Store this weekend! Gah. In much happier and less hair-pulling-out-inducing news, here are this week’s Foodie Favorites!

Cheesy Jalapeño Bacon Corn Cakes

cheesy jalapeño bacon corn cakes // my bacon-wrapped lifeSweet or savory? It’s been the fundamental brunch dilemma since the beginning of brunching time. Hey guys! How was your 4th of July? I spent the day cooking, loungin’ by the pool, and of course watching fireworks! Dinner consisted of panzanella salad, our favorite brown sugar garlic flank steak, and, of course, way too many of the above cookies. Such good eating!

Farro and Black Bean Burrito Bowls

Farro and Black Bean Burrito Bowls | www.mybaconwrappedlife.com
Phew. I don’t know about you guys, but this weekend was a BIG eating weekend. And a big beer-drinking weekend. And a big happy-times-outside-not-too-productive weekend. It was totally awesome and exactly how a holiday weekend is supposed to be, but as always after a vacation or holiday, I am feeling greatly in need of a few days that don’t involve stuffing my face with enormous oatmeal chocolate chip cookies. We all need a few of those days every now and then, even those of us (ahem) who write food blogs about bacon. It’s all about the balance here.
