…with Parsley! But I’ll spare you the final P.
Happy Memorial Day weekend! I know we tend to associate this 3 day weekend with the start of summer produce, but bear with me – it’s still technically spring for a few more weeks! Apparently something about seeing all the green vegetables pop up at the market this time of year makes me want to throw them on carbs with prosciutto, which I think is generally a good strategy for pretty much anything, right?
It’s time for some FOOTBALL food!!
Yes, I know I’m a little late. But we’ve been traveling for the first few weekends of the season, so this is our first proper lazy Sunday posted up in front of Redzone all day – just the way I like it! Of course, my favorite part of football (besides fantasy football, which I surprised even myself by being alarmingly obsessed with) is all the amazing FOOD you have a built-in excuse to eat while you park yourself in front of the couch every Sunday. Now that I’ve officially married into a Steelers family, I’m taking my responsibilities as a Lookabaugh very seriously this football season.
Banana bread might be the first thing I bake in a new kitchen to feel like home, but shortly after has to be homemade pizza. It’s the savory equivalent, coziness-wise, and nothing makes me feel quite at home like a bowl of dough rising in the corner, a floured counter, and visions of crispy, cheesy, meaty goodness dancing through my head.
I’d like to formally introduce you to what will be henceforth be known as The Summer of Quick and Easy Recipes on My Bacon-Wrapped Life.
It’s not ideal, but it’s real life, people. With a crazy (at least, crazy for my super-homebody self) travel schedule that’s packed my summer with weddings and wedding-errands and lake vacations and friend visits, my summer is lookin’ a lotta wonderful but also a little nutso. Which means keeping up with this blog is going to be an adventure and a half for this working girl. So I just wanted to throw out some advance warning that this here space will tend more towards the quick and easy and less towards the slow-simmered Bolognese/homemade cinnamon rolls/fancy-pants stuff for the next few months. Which I think is actually quite perfect for the summer, ya know? Don’t we all really just want something fast and mindless and delicious and hot-kitchen-time minimizing?
That’s the summer dream, people.
