Foodie Favorites – December 10, 2014

foodie favorites - december 10, 2014 // my bacon-wrapped life

I didn’t take any food pics this week, so here is a throwback to Thanksgiving weekend, eating mountains of incredible, authentic bulgogi at home in Los Angeles! Can’t wait to do it  all over again in a few weeks.

Hey guys! How’s your week going? I’m definitely feeling the holiday buzz and a little stress – so much to do, so little time! I finished all of our Christmas shopping this past weekend, and now I’m just baking up a storm – which is at least my favorite to-do! We have three holiday parties in three days coming up, so at least I know it will be a wonderful weekend despite being insanely hectic. Here are this week’s Foodie Favorites.

Foodie Favorites – July 9, 2014

Foodie Favorites - July 9, 2014 | www.mybaconwrappedlife.comJust a small portion of the epic batch of oatmeal chocolate chip cookies (Brad’s mom’s recipe!) that I baked up on the 4th of July

Fresh Blueberry Smoothie & Asparagus | www.mybaconwrappedlife.com

A fresh blueberry-peach smoothie and a giant bundle of asparagus from the farmers market

First things first: I had the best time at the Green City Farmers Market’s first outdoor weekend of the year. Brad was busy Saturday morning, so I had a “me” morning of strolling the farmers market leisurely, sampling everything, and watching adorable dogs and babies run around everywhere. Take-home spoils included: a fresh peach and blueberry smoothie made by a girl on a bike (seriously), a rhubarb spelt scone, an enormous bundle of asparagus, and an embarrassing amount of samples of Wisconsin cheese curds. I love the Midwest! I’m going to try to make it to the farmers market much more this year + hopefully share the seasonal goodness with you all on the blog! (Side note: why is every single person at farmers markets wearing gym clothes? There is NO WAY you ALL already worked out by 9am! Right…right?????)

Peanut Butter and Jelly Bars

P1000099

How is there not a peanut butter recipe on here yet? As a person who adores peanut butter in any form – covered in chocolate, smushed into a sandwich, baked into something delicious, or just eaten straight out of the jar – this is simply unacceptable.  Since I have started this blog, I haven’t made a single recipe with peanut butter, not a single peanut butter cookie, PB-swirled brownie, or even a proper PB+J (or, my preferred pairing, PB+pickle…don’t knock it ‘til you try it). What have I been doing with my life?!
