Foodie Favorites – April 15, 2015

foodie favorites - april 15, 2015 // my bacon-wrapped life

We finally made it to the locally famous Cheese Board Collective in Berk for their looooong-line worthy daily pizza. Two thumbs up!!

Hey, everyone! Happy Tax Day! (Not.) Does anyone actually do their taxes on Tax Day? That sounds like the worst thing in the world to me…one time I accidentally went to the post office on Tax Day and let’s just say I majorly regretted that decision. I may not be celebrating finishing my taxes today, but I’ll take the excuse to eat and drink and celebrate, anyways. Let’s eye-indulge! Here are this week’s Foodie Favorites.

This springtime pizza with chipotle romesco and eggs is the perfect seasonal pizza for this time of year – I love how fresh and colorful (and runny egg-y) it looks!

I am totally craving these spicy shrimp tacos right now. Spicy sautéed shrimp in a corn tortilla with crispy slaw? I’m allllll over it.

Foodie Favorites – April 1, 2015

Making good use of all the incredible California avocados ’round here! My fave way to eat them: smashed on whole-wheat bread, topped with liberal kosher salt, fresh cracked black pepper, and red chili flakes. YUM.

Happy April! I have to say, I am pretty pumped to see March go. A lot of exciting things happened, but moving, starting a new job, and dealing with a super fun and timely ant invasion in the same month has been…taxing. I’m ready for Spring, new beginnings, and a figurative breath of fresh air. I hope you’ll join me in a cheers to that! Here are this week’s Foodie Favorites…let’s just say I’ve got your Easter back covered, yo.

My #1 carrot cake find this week (besides, ya know, these): carrot graham layer cake. I must try this graham flour!!

Also, drooling over these carrot cake scones. Let’s carrot cake everything, okay?

Foodie Favorites – March 18, 2015

I know I always do a food picture, but I couldn’t resist – this is a totally un-edited picture of the view from our new running path. WHAT!!!

Hey guys! How’s your week going? Did you do anything for St. Patrick’s Day? We were lame/exhausted after the past few weeks of moving and settling in, and there wasn’t really as much spirit here as I’ve grown accustomed to in Chicago, so we didn’t really do anything (besides drink beer, of course). It certainly made me miss Chicago, and my Foodie Favorites this week certainly reflect that! I mean, we can eat Guinness and whisky all year, right? I say yes! Here are this week’s Foodie Favorites.

I love the idea of making your own Milano cookies. What a fun project (and totally applicable all year, amiright?!)

More St. Patrick’s Day goodies – I’m loving this classic Irish soda bread. Irish soda bread sounds so humble and simple, but it’s soooooo good with some butta and jam. Must make!

Foodie Favorites – March 12, 2015

foodie favorites - march 12, 2015 // my bacon-wrapped life

Just casually sippin’ one of my favorite beers outside on a hot and sunny day. Why did I ever leave California again?!

Hey everyone! How’s your week going? This has been a rather hectic week for us…since last Wednesday, we’ve had our furniture delivered (semi-seamlessly), cleaned and assembled the entire apartment, and done more physical box-lifting activity than I’d like to do in my entire life. (Seriously – Never. Moving. Ever. Again.) I also started my new job and we’ve had Brad’s mom staying with us, so it’s been very busy but very fun! Better to be busy than bored, right?! Anyways, here are this week’s Foodie Favorites!

Quick Berkeley faves so far – we’ve been doing a lot of eating at home, but we did go out to Eureka and Jupiter. Both had seriously awesome beer menus and excellent food, so I’m loving what I’m seeing so far! At Eureka, I got one of the best burgers I’ve ever had in my life – I won’t tell you what it is, because I have on my to-do list to re-create for the blog, but I will say you should get excited! (Hint: there will be bacon.)
