Elote Farro Salad

How is it that summer is almost over?! I feel like summer always flies by, but this year has taken the cake for me – between lots of friend visits, quick jaunts north to wine country and south to LA, and an extra-hectic work schedule, I feel like I’ve barely blinked and September is almost upon us.

“Summer” in the Bay Area pretty much means nothing in terms of weather, but I absolutely still use the season to take advantage of the extra-special produce: corn, tomatoes, basil, peaches, berries, oh my! When I was thinking about just the right recipe to celebrate the quickly fading summer months, this elote farro salad struck me as just the thing.

Can we say…HELLOOOO Super Bowl?!

It’s just a fact that game day food is the best food. It’s the cheesiest, crunchiest, gooiest, spiciest stuff there is. Eating a salad while watching the Super Bowl is pretty much downright anti-American! Pizza, wings, burgers, dips of every shape and size – it’s all fair game. (See what I did there?) But I have to confess, my favorite game-day food is a little pedestrian, just a little bit scorned by the foodies of the world. We’re talking about the humble pig in a blanket, people.

Halfway through our first beers at Oktoberfest! 

Hi everyone! I hope you’ve had a great couple of weeks. We are currently recuperating from an incredible trip to Germany last week – more pictures to come next week! In the meantime, I have lots of links for you from my week off. Here are this week’s Foodie Favorites!

First and most importantly, these beer-cooked bratwursts are bringing me riiiiiight back to Bavaria. But really, can we go back now?

These homemade apple fritters look ah-mazing. Undeniably labor-intensive, but so worth it! Stunning.
