foodie favorites - march 18, 2015 // my bacon-wrapped life

I know I always do a food picture, but I couldn’t resist – this is a totally un-edited picture of the view from our new running path. WHAT!!!

Hey guys! How’s your week going? Did you do anything for St. Patrick’s Day? We were lame/exhausted after the past few weeks of moving and settling in, and there wasn’t really as much spirit here as I’ve grown accustomed to in Chicago, so we didn’t really do anything (besides drink beer, of course). It certainly made me miss Chicago, and my Foodie Favorites this week certainly reflect that! I mean, we can eat Guinness and whisky all year, right? I say yes! Here are this week’s Foodie Favorites.

I love the idea of making your own Milano cookies. What a fun project (and totally applicable all year, amiright?!)

More St. Patrick’s Day goodies – I’m loving this classic Irish soda bread. Irish soda bread sounds so humble and simple, but it’s soooooo good with some butta and jam. Must make!

These no-bake vegan chocolate brownies look completely mouth-wateringly delicious. Maybe this is the next stop for my vegan baking kick?

This creamy one-pot spinach lentil dish looks like pure comfort. I am craving this so bad!

Important note: I made this Taiwanese meat sauce recipe this week for Sunday dinner, with a few minor tweaks, and it was INCREDIBLE. Seriously one of my favorite things I’ve made in a long time! I can’t recommend this enough – it’s so unique, hearty, and satisfying!

These chocolate whiskey meringue tarts are calling my naaaaaame. That hazelnut crust!! That chocolate ganache center! That billowy meringue top! I can’t take it.

I love the depth of flavor stout adds to chocolate baked goods, and these Guinness brownies look like no exception. These are definitely going on my must-bake list!

Hope you enjoyed this week’s festive round-up! Hopefully you won’t wait til next March to try them out – I know I wont! Have a wonderful week!
