Sweet and Spicy Bacon Brussels Sprouts

sweet and spicy bacon brussels sprouts // my bacon-wrapped life

It’s officially November, and you know what that means….

THANKSGIVING!!!

I can barely contain my Thanksgiving excitement until the calendar flips over to November. It’s just the best, smushiest holiday ever and I love all Thanksgiving food so much. (Besides cranberry sauce. Cranberry sauce can go.) I look forward to our family’s Thanksgiving literally all year, so by the time November comes around, I already have visions of stuffing and sweet potatoes and pumpkin pie dancing in my head. It’s a tad embarrassing, but I don’t care – I know I have some Thanksgiving-dork soulmates out there, right?

Kitchen Sink Summer Farro Salad

kitchen sink summer farro salad // my bacon-wrapped life

I don’t want to be totally cliché and say the 4th of July totally snuck up on me and I CAN’T BELIEVE it’s next weekend, but like. There. I said it. It’s true. How is it not-June as of Wednesday?!

Not that I’m complaining. A few weeks ago, I was talking to my best friend Emily and mentioned that I was sad I wasn’t going to any Hanukkah dinners or parties this year. I always love celebrating with my Jewish friends and their families, but this year, all of our close Jewish friends are living in different cities, and nothing came up on the calendar. Like the smart, savvy lady that she is, she suggested that I have my own Hanukkah celebration. And she’s totally right. I mean, why can’t two completely Christian people who have a healthy appreciation for all Jewish foods have a little latke party?

Sausage and Apple Pretzel Bread Stuffing

sausage and apple pretzel bread stuffing // my bacon-wrapped lifeAnother day, another pork-based Thanksgiving recipe. What can I say? It just makes everything better. I know you understand.

Last week we went a little non-traditional with some pancetta mac n’ cheese and it was seriously delicious. This week’s Thanksgiving side is definitely more traditional – a sausage and apple stuffing with all the fixin’s – with one critical sassy twist: PRETZEL BREAD. And guys, it’s so, so good. I can never go back.
